Titan LeeFine Art | 2016
Dan Wong Titan Lee is a mechanically impossible machine-god; an icon that carries the economical and cultural weight of Singapore. The work is an illustrative response to the saying “to punch above your weight”–a phrase often excessively used to peacock the Singaporean economy and their leaders. Though powerful and mighty, Titan Lee must still beware the the deadly stumbling rocks of arrogance and hubris, for other mighty icons have fallen because while their heads are made of gold, their extremities are fashioned with increasingly less valuable materials. This artwork was created in concert with Singapore’s 52nd National Day. |
