HISTORY

好公民

好公民 is loosely translated as "A Good Citizen" and is also the Chinese name for the compulsory civics and moral education we had in the good ol' Singaporean school days.

SOCIAL ART.  SATIRE.  MOVEMENT.

The Good Citizen Movement comprises a community of like-minded creatives seeking to promote the values of Good Citizenship through our unique brand of art and humour.

LOCAL FLAVOUR.  GLOBAL ISSUES.

We are but a reaction to the state of affairs today, speaking the language of satire. While the language we speak might be local, many of the issues we explore in our works are global in nature.
The Good Citizen Movement started rolling in late 2012. Helmed by Citizen Dan, he was decidedly not afraid to enter the controversial realms of politics, religion, gender issues, or treading on any other such tender ground.

Our very first gig, landed us at the former Telok Ayer Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC), and since then we've made our rounds at art fairs, flea markets and exhibitions.

Since our humble beginnings, we've worked with many great artists including Citizens Snares, Matt, Pilates & Mel. We also have a much loved fan base we call the Good Citizens. However we have also received our fair share of hate mail. We've been censored by the government, had our page frozen by Facebook, had an entire racial group condemn us to all the various levels of hell, and had a guy put a lot of pictures of his penis on our Facebook page.

But all in all, we like what we do. Sometimes we sell stuff. Sometimes we draw stuff. Sometimes we are busy plotting our next demonic ritual. And most of the time, we are busy petting an indifferent stray cat.
